The Wave (Triptych)
The centre panel was the starting piece in this triptych and also my very first introduction into this style of pouring the paint onto the canvas. When the paint dried I discovered another picture within the picture. Looking very carefully at the top third of the painting you will see a little sail boat riding the wind swept ocean under a bright moon.
Standing back I visualised expanding into another two paintings to form one large wave and the right hand panel was then created. I was amazed to see another smaller image in the very centre. This is a night-rider galloping through the storm.
Now when standing back I could imagine the final panel to complete the set and was thrilled at the appearance of the mermaid like creature in the top third of the painting.
This triptych can be viewed from the perspective of earth from outer space, a large wave or the individual panels with smaller paintings within.
